As both the heart and the engine of our organisation, our team members work hard to deliver quality and compassionate care to our community. Now we are taking the opportunity to introduce you to our wonderful staff, to learn more about them and to offer a sneak peak of what it's like to work at Just For U Care.
In the first of our #JFUFaces series, meet Ash, our much loved senior care consultant who leads our NDIS team. The incredibly kind and generous Ash has been at Just For U Care for over 3 years and holds a Masters of Youth Mental Health.
Why did you choose a profession in disability care?
Three years ago my son got his first NDIS Plan at age 5. Before then I was paying for all of his supports out of my own pocket; and this NDIS plan made a huge change to both the supports he could get and the achievement of goals. Both him and myself were very lucky to have knowledgeable, supportive people to help us with the journey.
I began the journey to also assist people in obtaining the supports they need so they too could achieve their lifestyle goals.
Can you share a bit about your role at Just For U Care?
My main role is overseeing the NDIS home care team and liaising with support workers, support coordinators and participants and ensuring everything is running smoothly with their provision of supports.
What do you love about working for Just For U Care?
The JFU Care team is wonderfully supportive of both its staff and participants. Everything in the company is a team effort and it’s always done with the view of how we can best support our participants.
Do you have any hobbies/ passions outside of work?
I build remote controlled, life size star wars robots and volunteer them at charity events such as Kidsflix, Good Friday Appeal etc. At these events the robots collect money for charity or interact and entertain the kids.
